Why Eye Exams Annually?

Blog

Your eyes are so important for your overall health and well-being and this is exactly why you don't want to neglect them. However, people with busy schedules and a lot on their minds can easily find themselves pushing that next eye exam out further rand further because they don't think anything is wrong with their eyes since they seem fine. However, there are a lot of benefits to not pushing that eye exam out and here are 4 of them.

You can catch vision problems early on – One of the things about vision changes is they often happen so slowly that most people don't even realize they are happening. When you go to your optometrist yearly, they will be able to catch the slightest vision changes. They may feel that you should wear prescription glasses to correct your vision. However, you may not need to wear them all the time, depending on your vision prescription. Some people wear glasses for reading, some wear glasses for driving, and some wear glasses at night time. If your vision has changed quite a bit, then you may need to wear glasses all the time, and it's best for you to catch the problem and start wearing them as soon as possible.

You can stop wearing the wrong prescription glasses – If you keep putting off your eye exams and you already wear corrective lenses, they you may be wearing glasses regularly that are no longer the right prescription for you. This can cause you to experience frequent headaches and it can even be dangerous when you are driving, handling heavy machinery or doing something else that requires you to be working with good vision.

You can update your frames – As time goes on, your frames will be put through a lot of wear and tear, plus styles are continuously changing. When you go to your annual exams, you can verify your prescription hasn't changed, or get your new prescription and then order your new glasses/frames. If your prescription hasn't changed, then you can even put your current glasses away somewhere safe and have them for emergency glasses.

You can start treatment for serious problems – In some cases, the optometrist may find something serious going on during a routine eye exam. For example, they may see what appears to be a tumor or something else serious. The sooner these types of things are caught, and treatments begin, the better the chances that you will see better results from that treatment.

Learning About Glasses For Kids

Hello, I am Joseph Markets. I vividly remember my first pair of glasses, despite being only three when I started wearing them. The glasses had round lenses, flexible arms and straps that went around the back of my head. The glasses never broke despite me jumping, climbing and running around like crazy as I grew up. I always looked forward to receiving a new pair of glasses each year. I will use this site to talk about the various types of glasses available for children. I will also discuss ways parents can make wearing glasses fun. I hope you will use the information on my site to help your child embrace vision correction devices.
